BEIJING, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) — Former teammate and long-time friend Liu Wei celebrated the Chrismas Day with Yao Ming, the new boss of Shanghai Sharks, by an almost perfect 132-89 victory over Beijing Ducks here on the road.

Point guard Liu, who played alongside with the Houston Rockets’ center over a decade ago, had 27 points, nine rebounds and seven assists in Shanghai Sharks’ first win this season as they opened a 0-2 start.

Yao bought his mother team this summer and had watched all Shanghai’s three matches to boost the local audiences.

Nursing an ankle injury which excluded him from the NBA season, Yao cheered his team on crutches as Shanghai achieved the biggest-margin victory over the arch-rivals.

John Lucas III, Yao’s former teammate in Houston, chipped in 26 points to help build a 20-plus lead in the first quarter.

The whole fourth quarter was garbage time as the visiting team scored 100 points in three quarter, 100-65.

Eight-time champions Bayi Fubang avoided a 0-3 start as they turned the table around for a 101-98 thrilling win over Zhejiang Chouzhou on the road.

As the only team without imported players, Bayi climbed back from 17-point deficit in the fourth quarter thanks to Wang Zhizhi’s 35 points and nine rebounds.

The former Miami Heat forward scored 13 points to give Bayi a 97-95 lead down the stretch before teammate Delehei, who had 26 points and Wang Zhongyu had the last four points to seal the win.

The defending champions Guangdong Hongyuan defeated Shanxi Zhongyu 101-89,  while Zhejiang Guangsha took the third straight win by beating Fujian SBS 92-82. Qingdao Double Stars handled off the winless Dongguan Marco Polo 122-103.

In Friday’s other matches, Tianjin Ronggang beat Jiangsu Dragons 117-102, Shannxi Kylin beat Jilin Northeast Tigers 108-100, Xinjiang Guanghui beat Liaoning Panpan 91-71.
