MOSCOW, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) — The death toll from a deadly fire at a nightclub in Russia’s Ural city of Perm on Dec. 5 has risen to 152, authorities said Friday.
The death toll was revised up after two women died in Moscow hospitals on Thursday, according to the regional branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry.
The death toll from the tragedy has risen steadily during the past weeks.
A total of 74 people remain hospitalized, suffering extensive burns and severe respiratory injuries, the branch said.
Flames sparked by indoor fireworks swept through the Lame Horse nightclub in the early hours of Dec. 5. Some 230 party-goers stampeded and choked on smoke as they rushed to flee through the only exit in the club.
According to official data, 15,165 people were killed in fires across Russia in 2008.
