ISLAMABAD — A blast took place in northwest Pakistan’s city of Peshawar on Saturday morning, local TV channel reported.
According to police sources, no loss of life was reported in the blast. The blast occurred near the provincial head office of political party Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) in Afridiabad area of Peshawar, capital of North West Frontier Province, the private TV ARY reported. Police sources said that the bomb was planted on road side.

KABUL — Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday presented the much-awaited names of ministerial nominees to Wolsi Jirga or lower house of parliament on Saturday, an official with parliament told Xinhua but declined to be named.
Majority of the nominees, according to the official, are former and sitting ministers.

ISLAMABAD — At least 11 militants were killed Saturday during military operations in northwest Pakistan’s tribal area, local TV channel reported.
According to the private channel ARY News, Taliban militants fired rockets and attacked with automatic weapons at a security checkpost in Asman Munza of South Waziristan tribal agency. Five militants were killed and a security man lost his life during the clash.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan — Afghan National Army(ANA) backed by NATO-led forces eliminated 10 Taliban militants during a cleanup operation in Taliban’s former stronghold Helmand province, spokesman for local administration said on Saturday.
“During the joint operation launched Friday in west of provincial capital Lashkargah, 10 rebels have been killed and six others got injured,” Daud Ahmadi told Xinhua.
