Stocks close higher in Mexico, Argentina, lower in Brazil — Dec. 16

MEXICO CITY, Dec. 16 (Xinhua) — Latin America’s three major stock markets closed mixed on Wednesday.

Mexico City’s IPC stock index rose 0.17 percent to 31,956.25 points. A total of 431 million shares were traded with a volume of about 991 million U.S. dollars.

At the Buenos Aires stock market, the Merval index closed at 2,229.65points, up 0.66 percent. The trade volume was 9.495 million dollars.

In Sao Paulo, Latin America’s biggest bourse, the leading Bovespa index closed at 68,622 points, down 0.99 percent. The trade volume was 3.428 billion dollars.
